Do You REALLY
Understand Human Communication?

The answer is probably, "No."

Because almost no one really
sees fully into the swirling weirdness
that is human communication.

I mean, words both work and don't work,
simultaneously. If I say "dog," you
think, "dog." But you don't think
the dog I'm thinking about.
(Weiner dog. Named Schnitzel.)
You don't think dog as a verb.
You don't think dog as a metaphor.
You don't think dog as a mislabeled cat.

But we all just ignore those slippages
and act like language works just fine.
Say words, speed on,
assume the best.

Weird.

If you want to get truly great at
human communication, you have to
get in and wrestle with every weirdness
that exists within human communication.

Which is what we do here
in the Communication Division
of Specialty Skills Training.

We configure enigmas
into really useful ideas and skills.

So come along and learn about that
most basic, and yet most esoteric,
human activity --
talking to each other.
