- pull out the buttons
- write a clean set-up for each
- pelt each set-up with multiple punchlines
- choose only the best punches to submit to the segment producer
() We mocked up a staff process on three news stories
- John Bolton, Menedez Bros, Cracker Barrel logo
- everyone broke in small staffs (5 people)
- someone acted as head writer
- assignment was two jokes per story
- we pitched the jokes to a segment producer, he broke it into six jokes
- i acted as the exec producer on the final six, couldn’t choose any (the funny ones weren’t sanitized enough for TV)
